Distance is a heavy beast.
Day 15 of the European Tour.
I am in my home land. I haven’t been here since October of 2000. Its a bit puzzling and strange to be here, but I’m starting to remember some things. I am in Sofia currently. It’s cold and windy and dry. We are staying with an old friend who has been very kind to us. And in just a couple of hours we will make our way to my home town, Pleven. Im anxious. I didn’t get any sleep last night and I’m nervous to replace my memories with a much updated version of the city.
London was fantastic. We stayed with the very kind and accommodating Campling family, to whom I am forever greatful and in debt, right outside of London in a town called Peterborough. I caught a cold there and have been fighting it since. It’s dreadful to travel with the flu, and near impossible to play music with a head that feels like a balloon full with carbonated pudding. Sorry for the visual, but imagine how I feel, eh?
And lastly, but first on my stops in Europe, Paris. Ahhhh, what a gem. Really, every movie that has ever been made and every song that has ever been written is spot on: an unquestionably enchanting city. Without a doubt, a great way to start the tour. Now, since we’re on the subject of Paris, I have way too much to recall, and not enough energy to sort it out. So, I won’t go into details yet, all I will say is that I was dumbfounded on more than one occasion.
I haven’t had the best of luck with finding wifi, I get on facebook about as often as I can over here, so I hope the world on the other side of the pond isn’t feeling neglected.
This is great, but I can’t wait to come home. I miss just about everything I can think of.
Sickly,
X.
Silent Lover.
Sometimes lovers…
Good restless early morning/late night (?)
It is 7 am and I have yet to go to sleep, but I have been very productive.
I’ve got a bunch of things to tell you guys:
First matter in order is exciting: NEW MUSIC VIDEO!! Yes, Noah Engh and I are well on our way to finishing the lineup of songs for our record and have already recorded a few of the songs. So, as a result of all our hard work, and to show you guys what we are up to, David Urbanic produced and directed an unofficial music video for one of the songs we already have recorded called ” You and Me“. This was all done during our stay in Phoenix. The record will be released officially June 25th, 2011 with a CD release show at the New World Brewery in Ybor City, FL. The title of the record is Sometimes Lovers. So, without further delay, here it is:
Next, I’d like to talk about upcoming shows in the Tampa Bay area. I’ll be playing Thursday January 13th in St Petersburg at Vintage Ultra Lounge, and the first 20 people through the door will receive free Geri X bracelets/wristbands. Friday January 14th, I’ll be playing at Play Ybor ( in Ybor…duh) and Saturday January 22nd at Jannus Live in St Pete for the National Blood Drive month followed by a late night set at Fly Bar in downtown Tampa.
As for tour, everything is falling in its right place so far. so I’m keeping my fingers crossed that all goes well. Packing and unpacking, and packing and unpacking…my life is out of a small duffel bag, but it is nice to not have too many things to lug around and keep track of.
Video blog will follow sometime today or tomorrow…until then, watch our new music video and make a plan to come see me this weekend. I’ll try and plan on sleeping sometime today.
Tiny insomniac,
Geri X.
Being stranded ain’t all that bad…
Happy New Year friends!
Reporting to you finally from Phoenix AZ I am safe and feel great about the new year.
A week ago I flew into Minneapolis MN, to take a long road trip down with Noah Engh (www.thekidfantastic.com) to Phoenix AZ for a new years eve show. We inevitably got stuck in two winter storms which ended up being the perfect premise to write songs. We are half way done with writing our record and feeling pretty good about the tunes we have in the bag.
Today we will shoot some music video footage with director David Urbanic (www.daveurbanic.com) who is also our host here in Phoenix. Tomorrow we are Los Angeles bound to record a few songs and make history.
I feel great, I’m inspired and ready to take on the new year. I didn’t sit down and make a new year resolution list yet because for the first time in my life, I think I’ll just go with the flow. The overall plan/goal is still at hand and fully focused on, but generally, I’m not making any plans. What comes, comes. What happens, happens. I’ll be there to experience and document it.
Thank you all for being a part of my life and helping me make it through last year.
I love you all.
Geri X.
