Winter tour? The open road? Scary…but oh so good.

Hello from the insane mind of Geri X:

We are getting close to Christmas and even closer to the New Year.

Most of you know (if you’ve been watching my video blogs) that I will be leaving for a West Coast tour come January 20th.  Not only is this an acoustic tour, but its solo, which means me by myself in the car with only my guitar and amp and the road. This is the first time I will be heading out on the road by myself and needless to say I am both excited and nervous.

You can never prepare enough for what might happen out there and the nature of the game of being a touring musician (or a musician in general) is that “what can happen, will happen”. I think we all know that from my track record this summer… With that said, I am fundraising again. This time it’s a bit different. I created a profile on KickStarter (a website specifically built to help projects get funded). The catch there is that at the end of the 30 day fundraising period if I haven’t hit the goal I don’t receive any of the money.

So, again, I am asking for your support in helping me hit the goal to be able to go out on tour a little less strapped and stressed. If the car breaks down, I’s like to be able to fix it, if a gig falls through, Id like to sleep in a bed instead of on a bench. Bottom line is, this crazy thing I’m doing, I’m doing for the love of music and the fans. I can’t do it without you. Whatever you can contribute would be greatly appreciated and rewarded. This fundraiser works almost like a guaranteed raffle. You receive something for each dollar donated.

Please, please, please visit this link: Kick Starter Geri X Fundraiser

Donate $1, $5, $20, $50, $500…whatever you can do will help me more than you know. This would be the greatest Christmas present yet if I can reach a goal for funding this tour.

Thank you guys for your continuous support and for having my back, I’m lost without you.

Love,

Crazy Geri X.

To whom it may concern, here is the truth….

To whom it may concern:

I would like to set the public record straight as to the dealings of last night.

First, thank you so much for coming and being a part of it. I spent so much time preparing for this night, making the cds, making sure all looked well, slide show, lights (with the help and generosity of JThor Productions), promoting and having a lengthy sound check to make sure all works. Technical things aside, I was just excited as all hell to put out another cd and play a show in my home town because it always feels good.

I have been battling what seems to be the flu this whole week and although I though I’d be ok, I apparently wasn’t.

So, to set the record straight, NO I did not get drunk, wasted, sloshed or blazed. I was sick. My voice was gone during soundcheck but then started to come back during our first acoustic set, and by the last song my arm from the elbow down all the way to the tips of my fingers cramped ( which is why I stopped playing ) and my vocal cords felt like they were strung on so tight they would snap. EmergenC, flu meds, and a lost voice was my combination for disaster.

To recap: I was not drunk, or intoxicated. I was sick and still am, which is why I walked back stage and cried. This was the first show I have never finished and I am so so sorry. I feel like I’ve failed you guys, but there was no way for me to finish.

Thank you again for coming out, and if you didn’t get a chance to grab an EP, they are still for sale here on our website under the store tab.

I hope last night was not a discouragement to coming to my shows in the future. I hope I’m allowed a bad night and a sick day in this industry.

Love you all

Geri X

Hidden Jems…

Another great week of shows.

We left thursday to go to Lakeland where we played the Red Door. Always a good vibe there. Richard and Grant take very good care of us. Unfortunately, it was freezing and we played outside, I though my fingers were going to fall off, but the bonfires helped. Bay News 9 was there filming, which I was a bit nervous about but it came out good.

In the middle of my second set, my capo broke and stuck itself on the 9th fret, which in turn forced me to play the rest of the set and my 3rd set in one position.
I guess thats good for practice, haha.

We stayed the night with JC’s family in Winter Haven, woke up early and went thrift store hunting and to find a new capo.
Then we drove to Orlando to play WOB. What an AWESOME night. I know that sounds strange, but really, we had a good crowd, the staff was incredible and we felt good. These little venues are hidden Gems, and you find them in the most random of places.
We stayed with JC’s brother and his family in Orlando that night, and then made out way back to Tampa to play Mellow Mushroom. Another gig packed full of cool people, good friends, and music lovers.

Im exhausted but ready for this week.
We have a meeting tonight to talk about tour, the EP and some good changes coming up.
Im writing more and more songs every day, so I may have to release a double disk haha.

Thank you guys for coming out to the gigs and for all the love.

rumor has it…

After a very long day of working and driving and getting rained on, we made our way up to Sarasota to play at Pastimes Pub. This was one of my old stomping grounds, and after years of being away it was pretty cool to come back and see everyone.

The best part of the night was when Katherine Barnes Kelly & Jonas Canales a.k.a. Sons of Hippies (http://www.songsofhippies.net ) appeared out of thin air, and gave me the most hugs and kisses I’ve gotten in a while. Seriously, when these two enter the room, the whole world feels right. And, when they joined us on stage, it was cosmic. Thank you guys, so so much.

Tonight we make our way to Lakeland FL to play at Red Door. So if you’re in the area come and check us out, we’ll entertain for 3 hours.

The new EP is almost done, so soon you will be able to get it. Also, check out some of the new features on the website, you can now share us on your facebook, twitter, etc.

Sleepy,

I’ve landed on the moon.

Hey guys,

Thanks for being so patient with me these last few weeks. I know I went on a hiatus, but it was much needed. Things are starting to look up for my health and my work so soon we should be 100% back to good stuff.

In the meantime I’d like to catch you up on a couple of my out of town trips.

I mentioned that I was going to San Francisco in my last post, well I came home with a whole lot of pictures and new experiences. Travis and Jane took real good care of me and I am so so thankful for all the kindness.Geri X Golden Gate Bridge San Francisco

Then I came home for a brief 2 days and flew back to to WI to attend the Dark Songs Festival and play an in house concert at the Holiday Music Motel.

After missing my flight, forgetting my wallet, getting searched, and flying standby into Chicago unable to board the plane to Green Bay, and being transported half way to Green Bay by a kind man named Steve Smith, I finally made it to Sturgeon Bay WI around 1am missing the concert. We rescheduled for the following night, and it was fantastic.

Dark Songs commenced that Sunday. I must have written over 15 songs. It was absolutely exhilarating and I really really needed that. I spend most of my days with Charlie Cheney (www.charliecheney.com) and Noah Engh (www.thekidfantastic.com). We wrote many of the songs together and just had an all around incredible week. It felt like summer camp.

So overall, i came home feeling better with a suitcase full of good memories. Thank you Pat Macdonald (www.patmacmusic.com) and Melanie Jjane (www.melaniejane.com) for getting me up to Sturgeon Bay.

Now, we should be getting back to the normal swing of things. I will start blogging regularly. Also I will be doing some video blogging in the near future here once I figure out how to run everything.

Our calendar is pretty much filled for the rest of the year, so please please please hop over to the tour page and see where we’ll be playing and come out.
I just finished work on yet another EP which I will be releasing Nov 20th @ The Local 662 in St Petersburg FL. It will be another hand made, limited edition print, but this time around I will make it available for you guys out of state to order online and Ill ship it to you.

So to recap, Im back for good! And the new EP comes out NOVEMBER 20th! Again, lots of new songs and new artwork.

I cant really tell you guys how much it means to know you’re still out there keeping me in mind. Its always a pretty scary thing to take a break, because you don’t know if when you come back there will be anyone left to care. It feels good to know thats not the case.

Coming up soon I will be taking on a lot of new ventures but thats for another day and another blog.

Love you, stay warm.
